Fresno police arrested student liaison at Central East High School on charges of sex acts with several students

Fresno, Calif. (KFSN) -- Steffan Alberson worked at Central East High for several years but he abruptly left his job at the beginning of the summer. Central Unified administrators aren't talking about the student liaison employee who police believe found many of his victims at the school.

"He would contact them at times through social media but it is possible through his employment at Central Unified that he was able to have easier access to the three victims," said Sergeant Israel Reyes, Fresno Police Department.

Detectives believe the crimes occurred over a span of four years, including this past summer when the investigation began. Officers say Alberson courted the victims through text messages conversations.

"Over the course of several weeks, or months, he was able to befriend them and get them to perform several sex acts with them," said Reyes.

Victims told police the crimes happened at the Northwest Fresno apartment where Alberson lived. Investigators say one of the victims also provided with drugs. During an interview, police say the suspect admitted to the crimes and was aware that his behavior was inappropriate.

"He did make statements to detectives that substantiate the charges," said Reyes.

A Central Unified spokesperson issued a statement saying the district is cooperating with the investigation. Police believe it is likely there could be additional victims who have not come forward.
