Fresno traffic stop leads to drug, mail theft arrests
Officers say they caught Pedro Chavez after he tried to run from a routine traffic stop near North and Elm Avenues.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A routine traffic stop in Southwest Fresno ended Saturday with two arrests involving loaded guns, drugs, and mail theft.

Officers say they caught Pedro Chavez after he tried to run from a routine traffic stop near North and Elm Avenues.

He claimed the car belonged to his girlfriend, Reinea Romo. She showed up at the scene minutes later.

Officers searched the car and found two guns, marijuana, and evidence that both were involved in mail theft and fraud.
