FRESNO,Calif. (KFSN) -- The police department and FBI determined after an extensive search they do not have evidence showing a child was taken.

Police Chief Jerry Dyer says no one has reported any missing children Tuesday and after following all leads and scouring this neighborhood, they determined they do not have evidence a young girl was abducted here Tuesday.

-

It all started just before 3 pm when a 14 and 17-year-old girl driving by the area thought they saw a young girl being carried away by a man.

They gave officers a detailed description of her and the possible suspect. They say they saw him take her off of a scooter and while he carried her away they saw her struggling and kicking her legs.

That scooter was found Tuesday lying on the sidewalk and in came about 50 police officers, detectives, and FBI agents began taping off the nearby apartment complex and scouring the grounds - searching apartment units, checking people's cars and trunks and they even checked on all ten registered sex offenders who within a square mile.

After looking at surveillance video from a business with a view of where the scooter was left, police officers did not see any suspicious activity all day. They did notice an older woman pushing the scooter with a bag of bottles on it and then dropped it, and say it did not move since.

The police department hopes this is the final update on this investigation and as the FBI said it looks like this is a happy ending to the incident.
