FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Hundreds of valley residents received free health care and legal assistance Saturday.

The event took place at the Mexican consulate in northwest Fresno and was designed to serve the Latino community.

A line formed well before sunrise, and some arrived as early as 3 a.m. The services included help with immigration forms, and Medi-Cal applications and renewals.

"It demonstrates that there's a huge need for access to easy resources for folks to understand these very complicated systems around health insurance and immigration reform," said Sandra Seledon-Castro with Fresno Building Healthy Communities.

The organization said it plans on teaming up with the Mexican consulate in the future to hold more events in Fresno.
