CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man hoping to raise awareness about pancreatic cancer has spent the last 49 days riding his bicycle across the country. On Saturday, he made a stop in Clovis. Eric McIntyre was even greeted by Clovis Mayor Nathan Magsig Saturday afternoon, who hopped on a bicycle to ride along for the last 10 miles into town.
Nearly three years ago, McIntyre's wife, Liz, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. That's when he came up with the idea of a 110-day bicycle tour through 18 states to raise awareness and money to help fight the disease.
"The deal with God was that Liz would have to be well enough for me to be away from her, potentially for that long," said McIntyre. "And she's doing great, she's not cured, but she's been through one vaccine trial."
McIntyre and Magsig attended a private fundraiser in the evening. The money will be used to benefit people with advanced stage cancer.
