The Fresno County Department of Health said there is a confirmed case of Measles in Fresno County.

Health officials said the infected person, a man in his 40's, visited the labor and delivery floor of Community Regional Medical Center. That person visited the hospital on two separate occasions between Thursday, January 22 at 9:00 p.m. and Sunday, January 25 at 9:00 p.m. Community Regional Medical Centers is taking steps to contact patients who were potentially exposed at the hospital.

The individual is also known to have been at WinCo Foods on Kings Canyon and Peach on January 25th from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and at Fashion Fair Mall at the Build A Bear and Disney stores on January 25th from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The health department said exposure to measles would only have occurred on those dates and times. They said the infected man is not from the area and is currently back in his home town, would not say where that person was from. Officials said the man did not contract Measles in Fresno County.

Fresno County residents who show any signs of measles, should stay at home, verify their immunization status, then contact their health care provider by telephone for instructions. Residents with questions about potential exposure can call the Department of Public Health Measles Call Center at (559) 600-7193.

Health officials said the last known case of measles in Fresno County was in 1994.
