Sheriff's office investigating homicide in Kings County

KETTLEMAN CITY, Calif. (KFSN) -- Kings County Sheriff's deputies are trying to find out who shot and killed a man in Kettleman City.

The man was hit by gunfire just before ten o'clock Tuesday night on Edwards Street. Detectives say multiple shots were fired and the man veered the car into a pomegranate orchard, where he came to a stop. By the time emergency crews arrived, the man had died.

Investigators are trying to find out a motive while they notify the victim's family.

"There are family in the area. Just absolutely as soon as the detectives can process the crime scene, they are going to speak with every potential witness in the area," said Dave Putnam, Kings County Assistant Sheriff.

Investigators do not believe there was a passenger in the car or that anyone else was hurt. If you have any information, you're asked to call the Kings County Sheriffs Office.
