Former Fresno City Councilman Joe Williams passes away

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- According to his family, former Fresno City Councilman Joe Williams passed away Wednesday from heart failure.

Williams was the first African American to be elected to the Fresno City Council in 1977 and the winner of the Leon S. Peters award in 2010.

Williams was 79-years-old.
