MERCED, Calif. (KFSN) -- Emotions ran high as two families finally reached the end of a four-year-long nightmare.

Jose Botello was given two life sentences without parole for killing 16-year-old Samantha Parreira and 19-year-old Matthew Fisher in cold blood.

The Atwater gang member was found guilty of killing and murdering the two teens during an Atwater house party 2013.

Prosecutors argued the defenseless victims were shot at close range. The judge also brought up that Botello was in a rap video where he bragged about killing.

Cliff Zall Deputy Attorney General said, "He's going to have a long time to spend in prison, alone and I think that's well deserved."

The victim's families gave their final statements in court, both Botello and his attorney looking back at them as they gave their painful last words.

But despite a life behind bars, the family says it will never be enough.

"There is no peace for me because I don't have my daughter here with me today. And there's no forgiveness for him because he murdered my daughter in cold blood," Desiree Parreira said.

Botello's attorney did not want to comment, however, since the suspect was underage when the shooting occurred, attorneys say he will be eligible to apply for parole in 25 years.
