Police officers say Gary Perry Jr. did not deny killing his roommate Brennan Fairhead and friend Scott Gaffney.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Police officers say Gary Perry Jr. did not deny killing his roommate Brennan Fairhead and friend Scott Gaffney on a December night.

During his court appearance Friday morning, Fairhead's mother made sure she was seated where she could look her son's roommate who is accused of killing him right in the eye.

"It's unfortunate to know kids at this age are involved drug dealing or having the possession of a firearm and as we have stressed over and over anytime you're involved in that narcotics lifestyle there's a potential for somebody to be seriously injured or killed," said Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer.

Dyer says the Department of Justice is still processing evidence from the car Perry fired shots in, and are waiting to receive data from their locked cell phones.

A search warrant led officers to find a large amount of Xanax pills, counterfeit money and amphetamine used to make ecstasy in a safe at Fairhead's house.

"We do know based on the items that were found in the safe that it was very apparent there were narcotics dealing going on," said Dyer.

Surveillance video caught part of the shooting on camera and has been used as part of the investigation in this double murder that took two young lives by someone they thought was a friend.

"They were friends, at some point in time for whatever reason Gary pulled out a gun and shot both of them and killed them, and then ultimately chased after a third victim and shot at him as well, so difficult to say why but we believe the motive was robbery," said Dyer.
