The Madera County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that involved several California Highway Patrol officers.

MADERA, Calif. (KFSN) -- A police chase in Madera County ends in an officer-involved shooting after the suspect pulls over and gets out of the car with a weapon.

Right now, the Madera County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that involved several California Highway Patrol officers.

It started at around 7:30 a.m. when authorities tried to pull over a driver for speeding along Highway 152.

Officials say the man did not stop and continued traveling southbound on Highway 99. Then deputies tell us the driver got off at Avenue 9, where he later pulled over and got out of the car with a knife.

"Highway patrol tried to taser him it did not work then the suspects charged at the officers with a knife the officers shot him several times," Bill Ward of the Madera County Sheriff's Office said.

Officers say the police chase lasted about 20 minutes.

The suspect was taken to a hospital in Fresno. It is unclear what his injuries are.
