FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- At around 8:45 Saturday evening a 911 call came in from who we now know is the wife of the suspect. She called to report her husband making suicidal threats while armed.

This all happened in a neighborhood near Champlain and Perrin.

In the home, there were several family members including the couple's teen. When police arrived they were able to get the family members out of the home, however, there was a struggle in the backyard that led to the gun discharging.

Lt. Steve Card of the Fresno Police Department said,"A female family member wrestled that firearm away from him and threw it in the pool of the residence. Officers went in after removing her and detained the male subject. Fortunately, no one else was hurt."

The suspect suffered a minor injury to his hand when his gun went off.

He's not being identified at this time. However, he is in police custody getting treated for his wound at Community Regional Medical Center, where he will also undergo a psych evaluation.

Police are still determining what he'll be charged with in regards to discharging a firearm.
