Melbourne car attack suspect charged with attempted murder

The man accused of plowing his SUV into a crowd of pedestrians this week in Australia has been charged with 18 counts of attempted murder.

The 32-year-old suspect is also facing one count of endangering life. Police say he has a history of mental illness and drug use.

Authorities believe the suspect deliberately drove into the busy street, injuring nearly 20 people.

However, they have not found evidence of a terror link.

Several victims of the incident remain in critical condition tonight.
