1 killed after car was hit by big rig near Farmersville

TULARE COUNTY, California (KFSN) -- A woman is dead after a fatal crash south of Farmersville Friday morning.

The accident happened at around 7:30 at the intersection of Avenue 256 and Road 164. The Highway Patrol says a fully-loaded tractor trailer was traveling eastbound and failed to stop at the four-way stop, broad-siding a small sedan in the middle of the intersection. The driver of the sedan, a 40-year-old woman, died at the scene. The tractor trailer then hit a power pole and some walnut trees.

The CHP says some power lines fell on the victim's car, delaying emergency response efforts. They also say visibility was limited to 300 or 400 feet due to fog at the time.
