FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Hanford man is in custody for shining a laser pointer at a plane. That plane was being operated by the Kings County Sheriff's Department.

Authorities say the suspect tracked the aircraft with the laser pointer for several minutes, temporarily blinding the pilot and spotter on board.

Michael Quair, 45, was arrested Tuesday night. Quair admitted to authorities he was showing his kids that he could shine the laser at the airplane, and he did not believe it was a serious offense.

Quair was arrested for the felony violation and booked into the Kings County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
