FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Demonstrators took to the streets in northwest Fresno Saturday in an effort to make one of the city's newest parks more accessible.

Local community groups came together to demand a FAX route for Inspiration Park. The park which was created specifically for those with disabilities and it's hard for those to reach if they come by bus.

The nearest stop is close to a mile away and terrain can make it impossible to get to if you're wheelchair-dependent.

"We want to bring is short-term and long-term solutions to this area so we're asking that the city of Fresno prioritize building infrastructure," council member Esmeralda Soria said. "And, in my office, I've been committed to making this a priority and I want to make sure my council and the administration supports the efforts to build."

The community groups are planning to hold more walks and rallies in the future to bring awareness to these type of issues to the city.
