2 children injured after man crashes car into bus stop in Central Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Two children are recovering after being hit by a car while waiting at a Central Fresno bus stop with their parents.

Fresno police said a man got into a fight at a bar near Cedar and Shields when he took off driving recklessly. Officers said he then crashed into a bus stop hitting the children.

"After the suspect struck the children, he took off eastbound on Shields in his vehicle where we thought, initially, he crashed again, but actually his vehicle came to a stop and some good Samaritans stopped and detained him until officers could get here and take him into custody," said Lt. Mindy Casto, Fresno Police Department.

The man is facing several charges including driving under the influence.

The two children were taken to Community Regional Medical Center but they're expected to be okay.
