South Valley children come together to share message through art
Dozens of kids from around the South Valley came together to share a message through art.

VISALIA, Calif. (KFSN) -- Act for Women and Girls and the Urban Art Collective hosted an Artivist Retreat at Visalia's old lumber yard Friday afternoon, in response to what they call, persistent threats to the Affordable Care Act and Medi-Cal.

Students worked on a large art installation that reads, Health 4 All. Students were encouraged to express what exactly access to health care means to them.

Arah Marquez from the Act for Women and Girls said, "So we're creating it here and then we're going to tour it around Tulare County and then our final stop is going to be Sacramento. So that way we have an opportunity to really amplify the voices of the Central Valley across the entire state."

Friday's Artivist Retreat was an all-day event, including a workshop and photoshoot.
