Humanity might be edging closer to the apocalypse according to the Doomsday Clock.

A panel of scholars from the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists has moved the symbolic countdown to the end of the world up 30 seconds, making the doomsday clock two minutes to midnight. That's the same position the clock was in back in 19-53 when the US and the Soviet Union were engaged in a nuclear arms race.

Since the 1940's the Bulletin has been tracking threats posed by nuclear weapons and other technologies.

The furthest the clock has been from midnight is 17 minutes back in 1991.
