Fresno police officers are out enforcing traffic violations committed by pedestrians

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno police officers are out enforcing traffic violations committed by pedestrians by citing them for crossing the road without using a crosswalk.

On Wednesday officers targeted two areas, Blackstone Avenue and Downtown Fresno. In addition to jaywalkers officers also pulled over drivers not yielding the right of way to pedestrians.

Out of 55 people stopped, 27 were issued citations in the Blackstone enforcement. Out of 41 people stopped Downtown, 26 received citations for violations.

The purpose of the enforcement is to prevent accidents involving pedestrians.
