Police arrest suspected DUI hit and run driver

Porterville police arrested, 38-year-old Jamie Ambriz, for driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident.

Police say Ambriz struck a driver preparing to turn left onto Devon Avenue from Indiana Street.

According to authorities, Ambriz kept going and later took off running on foot in the area of Villa Street and Vine Avenue.

Officers quickly located him and said he appeared to be intoxicated. Ambriz was booked into the Tulare County Jail with bail set at $100,000.

The driver, he allegedly hit, only suffered minor injuries.
