Police investigate dead body found in field near park in Merced

MERCED, Calif. (KFSN) -- Merced police are investigating a dead body that was found in a park near Cheyenne Drive.

Police are calling it a suspicious death after the man believed to be in his mid-twenties or early 30's was discovered by someone who later called 911.

Authorities tell Action News, information is leading them to believe the man was homeless and may have been there for about two to three days.

At this time, detectives say it does not appear that there was foul play. However, an autopsy is scheduled to take place next week to determine the exact cause of death.
