The USGS is reporting a 4.1 earthquake hit about 6 miles north of Coalinga at 6:30 a.m. Friday.

There was a 2.7 pre-shock that occurred in the same area about one minute before the main event. There has also been at least one aftershock over a 2.5 magnitude, according the USGS.

The USGS also reported two earthquakes overnight -- a 3.5 magnitude at 12:32 a.m. and a 2.7 at 12:55 a.m.

Around the same time, the USGS also reported a 3.7 earthquake near Porterville, but that event has since been removed from the real-time "shake map" -- but the USGS has not issued a retraction at this time.
