Fresno armed robbery suspect arrested after victim recognized him, police say

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Police said they were able to arrested an armed robbery suspect in Southeast Fresno after the victim recognized one of the suspects from a nearby neighborhood and gave police a detailed description.

Police said around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday on Grove Avenue near Maple Avenue, a man and a woman were sitting in their car when two armed suspects pointed guns at the victim's heads and demanded they turn over their belongings. After the victims complied, one of the suspects grabbed pulled the woman out of the car, held her by the neck, and pressed the gun to her head while walking her away from the car.

The suspect then walked back to the car, and according to police, that's when the male victim recognized the suspect from a nearby neighborhood.

Officers were able to locate the suspect's house on Fisher Street, near Belmont Avenue, and arrested 22-year-old Eric Esparza. During a search, they found two handguns in Esparza's bedroom.

Police said they are still searching for the second suspect.
