6-year-old boy fatally stabbed in Florence
A 6-year-old boy was fatally stabbed in the Florence-Firestone area early this morning, sheriff's officials say.

SOUTH LOS ANGELES -- A 6-year-old boy was fatally stabbed in the Florence-Firestone area early Thursday morning, sheriff's officials said.

Deputies responded around midnight to a call about a person screaming on the 1600 block of East 88th Street. When they arrived, they found a man, believed to be the victim's father, standing in the front yard covered in blood.

Deputies found the little boy in a trailer at the back of the residence, suffering from apparent stab wounds. The victim was transported to St. Francis Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The boy's father was detained for questioning. No other details were immediately released.
