FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A U.S. District judge on Monday sentenced a former Fresno police officer to two years in prison for conspiracy to commit bribery.

Back in February, Derik Kumagai, 41, pleaded guilty as part of a plea deal for bribery, conspiracy and extortion charges. Investigators say he accepted $20,000 in 2012 to become an informant for a drug trafficking suspect in jail.

Kumagai has been ordered to self-surrender in June to begin serving his sentence.
