Fresno County Jail medical director off job after inmates report abuse

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Action News has learned the medical director at the Fresno County Jail is no longer on the job and had her jail pass revoked after we exposed potential abuse and a cover-up.

An inmate says the doctor ordered his wheelchair taken away as retaliation for previous complaints against her. Jail staff overrode the doctor's order and gave it back after 37 days, and then a detective started digging into whether his rights were violated.

According to a search warrant Action News uncovered, the detective discovered the man was a victim of dependent care abuse, and his medical records had been falsified and altered. Since then, at least two more inmates have reported to us they also suffered abuse at the same doctor's hands.
