FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A North Valley man was sentenced on Friday for his role in a violent and deadly attack on a dog. Myron Patillo will spend the next 24 months in prison for the May 1 attack in Merced.

Investigators say Patillo and Aaron Carney tied a husky to a fire hydrant and cut it with a machete. The animal had to be euthanized because of his injuries.

Last month, Carney pleaded guilty to animal cruelty with a deadly weapon and was sentenced to one year in jail.
