Woman stabs another woman in the back, Fresno police say

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Police said they are still looking for another woman who was with the suspect during the stabbing.

Around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Fresno Police responded to reports of a stabbing in near Calaveras Street and McKenzie Avenue in Central Fresno. They said a 54-year-old woman had been stabbed in the back and the suspect was seen leaving in a Dodge Charger.

The Fresno Police helicopter was able to locate the suspect, who was fleeing north on Calaveras Street. Police on the ground were able to stop the car and arrested 30-year-old Vanessa Ledger of Clovis. Police said when they searched Ledger's car, they found the knife used in the assault.

Ledger was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.

Police are still looking for another woman who was with Ledger at the time of the assault. Police say she is 25 to 26 years old with blond hair, 5' 4", thin build and wearing a dark colored shirt. If you know where this person is, you are asked to call the Fresno Police Department at 498-STOP.
