I love a popsicle on a hot day, and I'll bet your furry friend would like to cool off with a tasty frozen treat of their own.

You've probably seen dog ice cream in the freezer section of your local grocery store, but they can be expensive and the flavors are limited.

So why not make your own doggie pup-sicles?

I've been making these frozen treats for Nanook for years. They are super easy, and you can see she loves them!

Below are a couple of quick and easy recipes.

Doggie ice cream recipe #1:
  • 1 cup all natural peanut butter
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 ripe banana
Mix all the ingredients in a blender.
Pour into an ice cube tray or into kid size paper cups.
Put in the freezer and serve when frozen.

Doggie ice cream recipe #2:
  • 1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/4 cup water
Thin out the yogurt with the water (you can mix with a whisk or blender). Mix in the berries with a spoon.
Pour into an ice cube tray or into kid size paper cups.
Put in the freezer and serve when frozen.

You can get creative with your ingredients. Just avoid anything dogs shouldn't eat, like sugar, artificial sweeteners (like xylitol), grapes and chocolate.
