The 9-1-1 system for the entire county of Merced has been completely restored. At one point, 9-1-1 calls weren't working at all.

According the sheriff's office, CHP Atwater, Merced Police Department, Merced County Sheriff's and the ambulance company Riggs were not getting location information or the number the call is coming from when people dialed 9-1-1.

During the outage, the City of Merced told residents to dial 9-1-1 first, then 385-6905 or 722-4141. They also said to keep trying if you couldn't get through.

AT&T confirmed the cause of the problem was an act of vandalism to some underground wiring in the Stockton area.
