Authorities recapture 1 of 2 escaped inmates in Antioch
Laron Campbell was arrested last night after breaking out of Santa Clara County's Main Jail a week ago.

ANTIOCH, Calif. -- One Santa Clara County Jail escaped inmate has been caught with the other still on the loose.

Laron Campbell was arrested Tuesday night after breaking out of jail a week ago. Campbell's sister, 24-year-old Marcaysha Alexander, was also arrested for harboring her brother at her Antioch apartment.

This was huge for the sheriff's department and a big relief, putting the escaped inmate back behind bars where he belongs.

A source told ABC7 News he was arrested in Antioch without incident. A lot of law enforcement officers were seen coming out of an apartment complex on James Donlon Boulevard.

"It's kind of scary because you don't expect that kind of stuff to happen and then when you're just sitting outside and see a whole bunch of cop cars and a whole bunch of officers in full gear, it's a little nerve wracking," neighbor Cassidy Ahern said.

Meanwhile, one more escaped inmate remains on the run - Rogelio Chavez.

Sheriff's investigators were in East San Jose on Tuesday, hitting what they call "high value targets and associates of Chavez."

Authorities feel like they're close, just missing him at the Days Inn Sunday night in Gilroy.

They ended up arresting San Jose resident Emily Vaca for helping Chavez after he escaped.

There is a news conference on Campbell's arrest scheduled for Wednesday.
