FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno Police are searching for the driver in a deadly hit and run crash.
The incident happened on Fresno Street near Scott Avenue, north of Shaw Avenue, just after 5 p.m. Saturday. Officers say a bicyclist drifted into the number two lane and was hit by a truck. Witnesses reported that the driver stopped momentarily, but then left the scene. The victim died a short time later at Community Regional Medical Center.
"The bicyclist was initially the person at fault, if the driver would have stayed at the scene, it would have just been an accident, but now it turns into a whole different investigation," said Lt. Phil Cooley, Fresno Police Department.
Witnesses described the driver's vehicle as a silver or light blue full size truck, possibly carrying lawn equipment. The victim has not been identified, but authorities say he appeared to be in his 20's or 30's.
