Search and rescue crews found 68-year-old John Lee of Mentone dead at the base of Mt. Whitney.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The body of a missing hiker who disappeared in Sequoia National Park is being transported Sunday to the Tulare County Sheriff's Office.

Search and rescue crews found 68-year-old John Lee of Mentone dead at the base of Mt. Whitney.

He was last seen Tuesday afternoon.

Nearly 100 people, four helicopters and two search dogs scoured the park for Lee.

They say Lee was hiking with a group but when the group decided to turn around, he kept going.

The cause of his death is still under investigation.
