FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A local strength training facility helped raise money Saturday for the family of a fallen Fresno Fire captain.

Athletic Performance Fresno held a health fair and fitness challenge competition to benefit the family Capt. Daniel Lopez-Galvan. He was killed by a piece of heavy equipment while working at his Madera County home on March 10.

People paid $10 to compete in a fitness challenge that tested their skills and strengths. Organizers say its part of they way they give back to first responders.

"They try to save us out there so the least that we can do is help them out," Athletic Performance owner David Standifer said. "We also train a lot fo the firefighters here in town it's just our way of giving back."

All of the day's proceeds will go to Lopez-Galvan's family.
