FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Family members of an Avenal boy are raising money for his funeral after he was run over by a car Friday.

Family members say Michael Alexander Rivas Terrones would've turned two next month. On Friday, police say he was killed in an accident near the Villa Esperanza Apartments.

The boy's mother and other family members held a car wash Sunday and are raising money for his funeral expenses through a GoFundMe account.

"We couldn't leave him out for one minute," family member Maria Sanchez said. "He was doing something over here, something over there. He loved to watch Paw Patrol. He always had a smile on kids faces - on us adults. We're going to remember him how he was."

Investigators believe Michael ran out in front of a car.

They say the driver was driving slow and is being cooperative.
