Fire at Northwest Fresno power pole yard continues to smolder

Crews are still on the scene of a power pole fire that started more than a day and a half ago. On Friday afternoon, there were still some smoldering flames and smoke.

The fire started at about 4 a.m. Thursday at a power pole yard near Golden State Boulevard and Ashlan Avenue. The business is called the McFarland Cascade Facility.

Fire and smoke could be seen for miles. Thousands of the utility poles were destroyed in the blaze.

Firefighters will stay on the scene until the fire is out. There's still no word on the cause.
