FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Subag Singh, 68, was seen taking his routine morning walk in surveillance video taken from his neighbors' house at about 7:25 Sunday morning. He was wearing a white shirt, gray pants, black shoes, and a white head covering.

"He went out for his early morning walk and he just disappeared," said Hugo Caballero, neighbor.

Singh lived with his son and daughter in law-- they said this was the last time they saw him.

"When I go to work in the mornings he was always there walking-- I was just in shock I couldn't believe it," said Caballero.

The Fresno County Sheriff's Department said his body was found floating in a canal off McCall and Jensen in Fresno County Monday. Based on his severe injuries, investigators are ruling it a homicide.

"Our boating team went in there, was able to remove the body, right away they could notice there was some trauma to the body," said Lieutenant Jose Salinas, Fresno County Sheriff's Office.

Neighbors said they feel scared-- Caballero said he would have never expected something like this to happen near their quiet neighborhood in Southeast Fresno.

"They're a very good family; we've been in this neighborhood for six years. They're quiet, keep to themselves, my son plays with their daughter-- they're a good family from what I know."

Caballero said his mom would usually go on walks around the neighborhood too, but said that won't be happening anymore-- not until they find out what happened and feel safe again.

"It's just random, scary, unsettling-- I don't know, I don't know, just sad."

Singh's family said they miss and love him very much, and want answers

"They have no idea who would want to hurt him, he got along with everybody. So at this point were trying to backtrack him to see where had been," said Salinas.
