Fresno family seeks help after fire destroys home

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A mother and her three children are afraid they will soon be homeless after a fire destroyed their condo in Central Fresno on Friday.

Michelle Booker says the flames started outside and spread to the unit she was renting near Dakota and Hughes avenues -- along with her neighbor's condo next door. All of her belongings are ravaged from the fire, and she tells Action News she regrettably doesn't have renters insurance.

The working mom and full-time student says her family is trying to raise money to move because the family's lodging assistance from the American Red Cross will run out on Sunday.

"Anything helps, just to help us get into a new place and have somewhere to go for the kids because right now we don't know what to do, so anything helps," said Booker.

Officials have not released any details about the cause of the fire.
