Fresno man punches and chokes wife over selfies on Instagram, police say

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Police say a Fresno man is facing charges of domestic violence and making criminal threats after punching and choking his wife over selfies she posted to Instagram.

Police say the woman ran from the house with two of her children and call for help. She was not able to get her 2-year-old child out of the house.

She told officers her husband, 37-year-old Julio Benitiez, was upset that she had posted selfies of herself on Instagram. As she began deleting the pictures, her husband began attacking her by choking her and punching her in the face and body. Benitiez also told threatened to kill the her during the assault.

After searching for several hours, police were able to find Benitiez and take him into custody. The 2-year-old child was also found unharmed.
