FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Loved ones are celebrating the life of a Fresno Fire captain who died in a tragic accident.

Capt. Daniel Lopez-Galvan was killed by a piece of heavy equipment while working at his Madera County home on March 10.

More than 200 firefighters rotated their schedules to ensure each of them would be able to pay their respects to Lopez-Galvan and his family Saturday and to show support for those closest to him at work.

"These guys lived together," Carlton Jones with the Fresno Fire Department said. "They spent a third of their life with each other so when that team was at work and that captain didn't show up, believe me, they felt it, and to find out what happened to them the way they did, that pain stretched throughout the whole department."

Lopez-Galvan leaves behind a wife of 8 years, Kerri-Lynn and an 11-month old son, Tuff.

He was 38 years old.
