Head-on crash near Kingsburg leaves teenage girl in critical condition
The California Highway Patrol is working to figure out what led to a crash which critically injured a 16-year-old girl.

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- The California Highway Patrol is investigating a crash which critically injured a 16-year-old girl.

Officers went to a call at about 6 p.m. Thursday. They say the teenager was headed eastbound on Avenue 400 near Road 24 when she hit a big rig tractor traveling in the opposite direction head on.

Action News has learned the teen is a 10th grader at Kingsburg High School. Her father says she was in critical condition Friday night. The CHP says the teen was life-flighted to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno.

"One witness was behind the PT Cruiser and the other witness was behind the big rig, and both people said both vehicles were going approximately 55 miles an hour, and she just drifted off the road for no reason," said CHP Officer Chris Mirwald.

Investigators are still working to figure out what led up to the crash.
