Homicide investigation underway after woman's body found in Central Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Fresno Police Department is investigating a homicide Tuesday night after woman's body was found in Central Fresno.

Police said they were searching for a missing 51-year-old woman near Shields Avenue and Highway 41 and found her body instead. The victim's identity or cause of death has not been released.

Detectives are in the area investigating and police said they detained a person of interest.
