Intruder chases Venice resident onto roof

VENICE, LOS ANGELES -- A frightened resident in Venice was forced onto her roof when an intruder broke into her house on Wednesday morning.

Authorities responded to the home in the 200 block of Windward Avenue just after 9 a.m. A woman climbed onto the rooftop to get away from a suspect, but the suspect chased after her.

LAPD officers, with the assistance of the L.A. Fire Department, were able to get the woman down safely.

The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Christian Hicks, was arrested for burglary. He was being held on $50,000 bail.
