MALAGA, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Fresno County Sheriff's Office is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Southeast Fresno.

Deputies said a CHP officer driving in a neighborhood in Malaga spotted a black Honda that came back reported as stolen. Two men were inside, and after stopping on Olney Avenue, they jumped out of the car and took off running.

The officer fired one shot at the driver hitting him in the shoulder.

"There was a firearm located in the backyard of the house he ran to, but it was a toy gun unknown at this time if that's even related," said Sgt. Quintin Hawkins, Fresno County Sheriff's Office.

The suspect was taken to Community Regional Medical Center and is expected to survive.

Deputies are still looking for the suspect's male passenger.
