Madera Ranchos imposes new restrictions as water pressure drops

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- People living in the Madera Ranchos can no longer water their lawns or outdoor plants due to the drought.

Madera County officials say they banned all outdoor watering because the area is running low on ground water. Filling swimming pools and spas is also now banned. If you're caught, you'll be fined $75 -- and the fines go up after that.

People there say water pressure has been low for months. Officials hope to cut water use in the Ranchos by up to 50 percent.
