FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno police are investigating a shooting that has left a man fighting for his life. It happened before 10 p.m. Wednesday at Blackstone Avenue and Saginaw Way in Central Fresno.

The gunman is still on the loose. Police say the victim was shot several times after a confrontation with the suspects. They say the victim ended up at a nearby Shell gas station where he hid from the shooter.

Investigators say it appears the victim and suspects know each other. They say this could be an issue over drugs. Witnesses saw the suspects and victim talking right before hearing gunshots.

"The victim was shot and ran to the Shell station. Once he was at the Shell station, we were also getting information that the suspects then attempted to re-locate him for unknown reasons but possibly to continue the shooting," said Fresno Police Lt. Mike Doyle.

The victim was taken to Community Regional Medical Center and was last listed in critical condition.

Police are not yet sure if gangs were involved in this shooting. They say the suspects were caught on the gas station's surveillance cameras.

Anyone with information on this shooting is asked to contact the Fresno Police Department at (559) 621-7000.
