GOSHEN, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man was taken into custody following an officer-involved shooting in Goshen on Wednesday evening. The incident happened in the area of Avenue 308 and Road 72.

The Tulare County Sheriff's Office says detectives made contact with the man while conducting parole and compliance checks. He ran from them and officers chased after him. Detectives say they located the man hiding beneath a tree, and he was trying to hide his hands.

The sheriff's office says authorities ordered him to show his hands and comply with their instructions, and that's when a detective fired one shot. No one was injured, and the man was taken into custody. He has been identified as 41-year-old David Abilia.

The Visalia Police Department is investigating the officer-involved shooting. Officials say the sheriff's detective involved in the shooting has been placed on paid administrative leave, which is a standard procedure.
