OROSI, Calif. (KFSN) -- Authorities are searching for suspects after a man in his 20s was shot to death while riding his bicycle in Orosi Saturday afternoon.

The shooting happened around 3 p.m. at the intersection of Avenue 416 and Road 130. The victim was taken to the hospital where he died.

Randy Martinez set out a candle for the Orosi man who was shot while riding his bike. He was one of the first few people who stopped and tried to help him. "I was driving down the road and I saw there was a body laying down and I just did a U-turn to see what was wrong with him," Martinez explained.

Once he got out of his truck, he quickly realized he was dealing with a gunshot victim who needed more help than he could give. "He was actually unconscious," Martinez said. "He was just moving his head."

Pictures show the road where he was shot blocked off and people nearby watching while deputies investigated the scene.

Javier Gutierrez was working down the street from where the shooting took place. He says it did not take long before it became the talk of the town. "They were just saying it's really sad something like that happened and it was during the day too, so it was kind of surprising," Gutierrez said.

But it wasn't unusual to both Martinez and Guiterrez who say crime has hit the neighborhood before. "One in a while it gets like this," Gutierrez said.

"A couple weeks ago someone got stabbed right behind where I work at, so not a great area," Martinez said.

Sheriff's deputies are hoping one tip will help catch the person responsible for taking a young man's life. "We're looking for a late 90s, early 2000s black Honda Accord," Sgt. Lance Heiden with the Tulare County Sheriff's Office said.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the sheriff's office.
