FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man is recovering after falling 300 feet down an embankment Monday afternoon. It happened near the San Joaquin River on Riverbottom Avenue in Northwest Fresno.

Fresno firefighters along with the American Ambulance Rescue Team hoisted the man to safety using a harness.

Fresno Fire Department spokesperson Pete Martinez said, "It took approximately 30 minutes. Again, you're dealing with 300 feet down an embankment, two to three people that you have to lower in and bring back up. And so there's lots of ropes and pulleys involved, making sure they have a proper anchor. So it's a pretty extensive rescue, and I think we did a good job pulling this person up with no one getting hurt."

The man who fell had multiple cuts and bruises but was able to walk to the ambulance. He was taken to the hospital just as a precaution.
